Date: 07/10/2017 Location: Morristown, NJ Pizza Ordered: The Signature (Coal-Fired) and Margherita (Wood-Fired) Website: www.milliesoldworld.com/ Millie's Old World Meatballs & Pizza lies on a busy street in the middle of Morristown. The pizzeria is unique in the fact that it offers an interesting outdoor/indoor seating area. The outdoor seating area was packed during the lunch hour, but there was ample seating inside. Another cool feature of this establishment is that they offer both wood-fired and coal-fired pizza.
After being seated inside by the friendly staff, my girlfriend and I decided to sample one wood-fired pie and one coal-fired pie. For the wood, we went with a standard Margherita. For coal, we couldn't pass up on the signature pie. Both pies came out excellent, but we decided that the coal-fired signature pie had the better flavor. The sauce seemed to be richer in flavor and the crust was more crisp with a subtle, pleasant smokey taste. The base was also crispier with a good crunch. That isn't to say that the Margherita slice wasn't good...quite the contrary, actually! The Margherita slice was also very good with fresh and delicious cheese and good quality sauce. It was just that the signature pie was the better pick in our opinion. While on the expensive side, this pizzeria is a must-stop when in Morristown and I look forward to the next time I can satisfy my taste buds with the ever-delicious signature pie.

Date: 6/24/2017 Location: Seaside Heights, NJ Slices ordered: Plain and Margherita Website: www.marucaspizza.com/ Maruca's Tomato Pies is the Seaside Pizza hot-spot. My friend Charlie from Brick swears by this place, as do many others who share my love for pizza. This boardwalk pizzeria is very busy during beach season and for good reason. These slices are huge and come with the right amount of sauce. The Trenton-style tomato pie features delicious cheese and a rich, tangy and flavorful sauce. The base was pleasantly crispy and the crust had good crunch. The margherita slice was also quite good and featured splotches of fresh mozz and plenty of sauce.
Though there was some room to eat inside, it was quite crowded and the slices are much better enjoyed while soaking up some sun. The staff was very friendly and quick with their service. I know this will be my usual spot if I'm ever in Seaside Heights. |
