Date: 12/22/2020 Location: Martinsville, NJ Pizza ordered: Brooklyn & Tortellini Website: panatierispizza.com/martinsville/ Panatieri's is a small, NJ-specific chain that consistently puts out good pizza. I've been to a few locations and all have had great pizza. This time around, I went with the Brooklyn and the tortellini slices. The Brooklyn had a crisp base, but a fluffy interior like a delicious dinner roll. The cheese was fresh and buttery. The sauce was sweet and delicious. The tortellini slice also had a crisp, thin base and a thinner, crispier crust. The crust was a bit dry, but the slice was cheesy and delicious. The tortellini slice was also very filling.
Overall, Panatieri's has good pizza.

Date: 12/22/2020 Location: Martinsville, NJ Pizza ordered: plain and peppers & onions Website: www.mypizzabrothers.com/ I've been to several Pizza Brothers locations in my hunt for good pizza and have never been disappointed. This spot has the same cripsy, thin base that cracks when you fold it but still maintains a good structure. The sauce and cheese are excellent and the crust is bready and delicious. The peppers and onions were clearly fresh and tasted great. I would definitely recommend Pizza Brothers.
Date: 4/27/2020 Location: Basking Ridge, NJ Pizza ordered: Plain & Margherita Website: ridgerestaurant.com/ Photos lost due to data corruption. Sorry! I stopped in during peak COVID-19 season in April and I'm happy to report the staff was adhering to mask policies and social distancing requirements. I went with a slice of plain and a slice of the Margherita pizza. The plain had a crispy thin base. The sauce and cheese were both quite good. The crust was also nice and fluffy. The Margherita is decent. The cheese is alright and the sauce is nothing special. This slice would have benefitted from a more robust, rich sauce. Overall, the pizza is pretty good.
Date: 12/20/2020 Location: Millstone, NJ Pizza ordered: Old fashioned tomato pie slice & plain slice Website: www.trecolorepizza.com Tre Colore' is tucked into a strip mall along Route 33. They have a lovely dine-in area that I would have loved to sit in if this wasn't COVID season. The staff was welcoming, friendly, and quick with service. I went with the old fashioned tomatoes pie slice and the plain.
The old fashioned tomato pie slice was tremendous. The sauce was thick, rich, and full of flavor. Ample oregano was present on top of this slice. The base and crust of the pizza were crunchy and cripsy. The interior of the base was pleasantly fluffy (this is a thicker dough than your standard slice). The old fashioned tomato pie slice was the real winner. The plain slice had a softer base, so I had to fold it to avoid sag. The sauce is good and the cheese had a nice, buttery, salty taste to it. The crust was fluffy and delicious. I really enjoyed the slices from Tre Colore' and would happily stop in again. Date: 4/16/2020 Location: North Plainfield, NJ Pizza ordered: Person plain pie Website: www.22sanremo.com/ San Remo is located in a small stripmall along the bustling US 22. They've got a classic setup complete with wooden tables and chairs along the walls and a corner countertop that surrounds the oven. Because I visited during peak COVID-19 in April 2020, no slices were available. I instead opted for a person plain pie. The staff was wearing masks and social distancing was enforced during my visit.
The pizza had a great sauce and a crisp base with good structure. The salty, buttery cheese was quite good and the crust was pleasantly fluffy. Overall, the pie was on the greasier side and there was an excess of flour on the crust and base. But overall, the pizza was good. Date: 4/15/2020 Location: Bedminster, NJ Slices ordered: Plain, Brooklyn, Grandma Website: panatierispizza.com/bedminster/ Panatieri's is a small, New Jersey chain that consistently puts out good pizza. Other locations have not disappointed me and the Bedminster location is no different. The plain has a nice, thin, and crisp base. It also features a delicious, stretchy cheese. It's a great, foldable slice. The squares have a fluffier base with a crispier crust. The sauce is high-quality. Garlic and other spices add a ton of flavor. The Brooklyn pie has more sauce and a great flavor. Overall, you can't go wrong with this spot.
Date: 4/14/2020 Location: Lebanon, NJ Slices ordered: Penne vodka, plain and tortellini Website: bellapizzerialebanonnj.com/ I stopped into Bella's on the way home from a job site for a filling meal and that's exactly what I got. The three slices I ordered were the plain, penne vodka, and tortellini. The penne vodka slice was great. The vodka sauce was flavorful and creamy and the slice was cheesy and delicious overall. The plain was alright. The cheese was good, but the slice could have benefitted from more sauce. The crust was pleasantly fluffy and the base was crispy with good structure. The tortellini slice was the best of the bunch. It was overloaded with cheesy goodness.
Date: 4/8/2020 Location: Bedminster, NJ Pizza ordered: Plain and Margherita Website: roccospizzanj.com/ I went with a slice of plain and Margherita. The plain was greasy and the sauce was thin and tasted cheap. The base wasn't very crispy which led to major flop. The Margherita was a bit better. It had a crispier base and the sauce was more full. They went a little heavy on seasoning/spices in my opinion. The pizza here is pretty average overall. The plain was mediocre, but the Margherita saved it a bit.
Date: 4/7/2020 Location: Martinsville, NJ Slices ordered: Plain Website: www.joespizzamartinsville.com/ Stopped in for a quick bite and I was not disappointed! The staff was very friendly and the service was quick. The plain slice had a nice, crispy base, awesome sauce, and great, salty cheese. The slices are very foldable and have a good structure. Overall, Joe's puts out a really solid standard slice. Job well done!
Date: 11/1/2019 Location: Princeton, NJ Pizza ordered: Brooklyn, Margherita, and Plain Website: alfonsospizzaofprinceton.com/ Photos lost to data corruption. Sorry!! Maybe I'm just unobservant, but I never realized there was a pizzeria in this strip mall. Regardless, Alfonso's was a good find. They have a lovely seating area and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. The pizza is good too! The Brooklyn slice has an incredible, chunky, rich sauce. The base is crispy with a fluffy interior. The Margherita had the same great sauce but was a bit soggy/doughy in the middle of the slice. The softness led to some major sag.
The plain slice is your good, standard, average slice. It had a pleasant saltiness to it. Overall, Alfonso's is a decent spot! |
