Conte's serves up a great pie and is one of my go-to's in the Princeton area. The pizza has a crisp, cracker-thin crust. The cheese is greasy and delicious. This is the kind of pizza you pair with a few drinks with friends. I also loved the rich, thick tomato sauce. It was flavor-packed and balanced well with the oily, saltiness of the cheese.
The staff was friendly, the service was quick, and they have plenty of seating. The long, wide bar table can fit a bunch of people in the event that table space is all filled up. Overall, I'm definitely a fan of Conte's.

I stopped into Antimo's on the way back from a job site and overall I was a bit mixed about my experience. On one hand, the white pizza was absolutely delicious - the combination of creamy sauce, fluffy cheese, and fresh herbs was truly heavenly. However, I was a bit disappointed with the plain pie. The base was unfortunately quite soft and lacked structure, and the overall flavor of the pizza was a bit underwhelming. My coworker thought both the pepperoni and sausage slices were superb. Maybe I got unlucky with the plain slice, but I would still recommend Antimo's. The rest of our slices were great! I should also mention they have a clean, beautiful indoor dining area and a nice seating area outside the restaurant.
Date: 11/1/2019 Location: Princeton, NJ Pizza ordered: Brooklyn, Margherita, and Plain Website: alfonsospizzaofprinceton.com/ Photos lost to data corruption. Sorry!! Maybe I'm just unobservant, but I never realized there was a pizzeria in this strip mall. Regardless, Alfonso's was a good find. They have a lovely seating area and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. The pizza is good too! The Brooklyn slice has an incredible, chunky, rich sauce. The base is crispy with a fluffy interior. The Margherita had the same great sauce but was a bit soggy/doughy in the middle of the slice. The softness led to some major sag.
The plain slice is your good, standard, average slice. It had a pleasant saltiness to it. Overall, Alfonso's is a decent spot! Date: 10/24/2019 Location: East Windsor, NJ Pizza ordered: Plain, Margherita, and Marinara Website: http://laterrazzanj.com/ La Terrazza is a cozy pizzeria located in a quiet shopping mall along Rt. 33. The interior is very clean and well kept and the staff is super friendly. I ordered three slices: a plain, a marinara, and a Margherita. All of the slices were great! The marinara slice had a rich, tasty sauce with delicious fresh garlic and a nice, crunchy crust. The bottom of the slice was perfectly golden brown. The plain slice featured a slightly sweeter sauce, an excellent thin crust, with a pleasant, salty cheese. The plain also had a crispy, brown base. The Margherita slice had a gooey, milky mozzarella with the same fresh and delightful sauce as the marinara slice. I was very pleased with the pizza at La Terrazza and can definitely recommend it to you.
Date: 10/23/2019 Location: Hightstown, NJ Pizza ordered: Plain, Margherita, and Pasta Website: http://www.manninos4.com/ Mannino's 4 is located in the lovely town of Hightstown along a busy main street. There is plenty of seating and lovely photographs and wall furnishings that create a warm and inviting environment. There are plenty of options at the front counter and I decided to get a plain slice, Margherita slice, and a pasta slice.
The slices at Mannino's 4 have a perfectly thin and crispy base that is a medium-brown color and has a good structure to hold up the toppings. The outer crust is crispy, with a fluffy, bready interior. The plain slice had a good cheese to sauce ratio with a pleasant, sweet-tasting sauce. The penne-vodka slice was decent and featured a good, creamy vodka sauce. The aesthetic was enhanced by some fresh herbs placed on top of the slice, though they didn't add much noticeable flavor. The big winner at Mannino's 4 is the Margherita slice. The base is perfectly crispy and thin. The sauce is rich and chunky with great flavor. The cheese is fresh, milky mozzarella that melts in your mouth. This is the slice I highly recommend if you are stopping in for a bite to eat. Date: 10/22/2019 Location: East Windsor, NJ Pizza ordered: plain, pasta, & grandma Website: www.sabrinaspizzeria.com/ Sabrina's is located in a strip mall along the busy Route 130. Upon entering, you see several eye-catching wall decorations that bring about feelings of being in a pizzeria in Italy. There are beautiful tile paintings and photographs. The seating area is puny, with a bar-style table along the window and along the wall with around 8-10 seats total. There was plenty of variety available at the countertop and I decided to order the plain, pasta, and grandma slices.
The pizza was decent. The grandma had excellent sauce and a layer of crisp along the base. It was slightly gummy between the base and the sauce but tasted good overall. The plain is greasy and cheesy. There's lots of cheese stretch and the crust has a good toasty taste to it with a bit of fluff. The vodka sauce on the penne vodka slice was very cheesy and didn't really have any other flavors. The slice was greasy and filling. Overall, the pizza was average, but the real flaw of this pizzeria is the lack of available seating. I witnessed a large group of teenagers come in and half of them ended up leaving simply because they couldn't sit and eat their meal anywhere. The kitchen takes up 75% of the space and this isn't that small of a restaurant. With all those people it was crowded and hard to move around. If the restaurant were set up differently, this wouldn't have been a problem and I'm sure they could have served more customers. Date: 10/21/2019 Location: Jamesburg, NJ Pizza ordered: Plain and Vodka Sauce Website: http://romeosjamesburg.com/ Romeo's Restaurang & Pizza is located in the quaint town of Jamesburg. Parking is along the street next to the train tracks. There is ample seating with cleanly set tables and chairs. The pictures on the wall and mural are quite beautiful and create a pleasant and friendly atmosphere.
There was plenty of pizza to choose from at the counter, I decided to go with a plain slice and vodka slice. The plain slice was tasty and had delicious tomato sauce. The base was mostly crispy and there was a nice, fluffy crust. The vodka slice featured tremendous vodka sauce, though I wish the cheese was shredded to promote better melt and distribution. The sliced cheese slid around when the slice was bitten into and didn't melt quite as well as I had hoped it would. Date: 1/18/2018 Location: Robbinsville, NJ Pizza ordered: Tomato Pie Website: http://www.delorenzostomatopies.com/index2.html De Lorenzo's Tomato Pies is one of New Jersey's finest. Established in 1947, this pizzeria has the prestige and history to back up its consistent high reviews. The establishment is very accommodating with an upbeat and classy atmosphere. Adding to the authentic feel created by the pictures and history that lines the walls are the waiters, dressed very formally and serving patrons in a professional manner.
The pizza is exquisite. Despite a third of the base of my pizza being burnt to a crisp, the quality was exceptional. The crispy thin base and crust meld beautifully with the sauce and cheese. The tomato sauce is rich, sweet, slightly chunky and some of the best quality sauce I've ever experienced. I anticipate that I will return to this establishment many times in the coming years and will always speak highly of it to friends and family that are looking for some of the finest that Jersey has to offer. Date: 2/7/2018 Location: Princeton, NJ Slices ordered: Plain, Zucchini, and Taco Website: http://www.julesthincrust.com/ Jules Thin Crust is a trendy spot in downtown Princeton. Parking can be a bit tough, but there is street parking available and it's within walking distance of the main street of shops. I was seriously impressed by not only the large variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian pizza offerings but also the use of locally sourced ingredients.
The taco and zucchini flatbreads both featured unique flavor profiles and had great sauce blends. The plain pizza was thin and crispy with a juicy sauce that had a sugary taste to it. The sauce was a bit watery, but overall the pizza at Jules is solid and I would definitely like to return and try some of their other options! Date: 12/6/2017 Location: Hamilton, NJ Slices ordered: Plain and Tomato Pie style Website: www.brotherspizzaon33.com/ Brother's Pizza is one of the many fantastic pizzerias in the Hamilton area. There is ample seating available and the staff is very polite and helpful. I was happy to find such a large assortment of slices to choose from behind the counter. This is a big plus in my book.
I ended up going with a plain slice and a tomato pie slice. Both slices featured crispy crust and base. The plain had stretchy cheese and a pleasant saltiness with a delicious sauce. The tomato slice also benefited from a rich, flavorful sauce with plenty of spices and a pleasant onion / olive oil taste. The crust and base on the tomato slice were exceptionally tasty. Overall, this is a great spot to try and I would definitely recommend it. |
