Date: 10/29/2021 Location: Somerset, NJ Pizza ordered: Plain & Brooklyn Slice Website: www.732kingspizza.com/ I stopped into King's Pizzeria for a quick bite and decided to go with the Brooklyn slice and a classic plain slice. The Brooklyn featured a thin, crisp base with good cheese and excellent sauce. I would have loved it if they were a little more heavy-handed when it came to the sauce for this slice. The plain slice had a fluffy, delicious crust with a thin crispy base. The toasted bottom added a subtle smoky flavor that I enjoyed. The cheese and sauce were pretty standard, but overall I enjoyed both slices.

Date: 8/14/2021 Location: Somerset, NJ Pizza ordered: Plain, Margherita, and Tortellini Website: https://somersetnjpizza.com/ I stopped at Somerset Pizza for a quick lunch on my way back to the office from a field visit. I noticed a few things right away: there's a very nice outdoor seating area and the inside of the restaurant was spotless and well-kept. The staff was friendly and service was VERY quick. Being particularly hungry, I ordered three slices: a plain, a Margherita, and a tortellini slice. The plain slice was really good! It featured an excellent red sauce with a garlicky, buttery cheese and a fluffy, delicious crust. The Margherita had a superb, sweet sauce with fresh mozzarella and fresh, delicious basil. The crust was perfectly crisp. The tortellini slice had an excellent structure to support the pasta topping. It was cheesy and delicious (not to mention very filling). Somerset Pizza & Restaurant certainly met my needs. I would absolutely return if I were in the area.
Date: 10/23/2021 Location: Franklin, NJ Pizza ordered: Plain slice Phone: (732) 253-5399 This review is for the pizza - I haven't had the chance to try their Mexican cuisine as of yet. When I visited, Maya's had a small dining area, but a very friendly staff. I was in a hurry, so I just ordered a slice of plain. In classic pizzeria fashion, it came on a paper plate (hey, it does the job!). The base was on the softer side and the structure could use some improvement. That being said, the greasy, delicious cheese matched well with the tasty sauce. The crust was thin and crisp. Overall it wasn't a bad slice!
Date: 10/23/2021 Location: Somerset, NJ Pizza ordered: Plain and Tomato slices Website: stevespizzasomerset.com/ I recently stopped by and tried both the cheese pizza and the tomato slice, and I have to say, they did not disappoint.
The cheese pizza had a fluffy crust that was just the right thickness, not too thin and not too thick. The sauce was decent, not too sweet or tangy, and the cheese was definitely the star of the show. It was gooey and delicious, with just the right amount on top. Overall, it was a solid cheese pizza that hit the spot. The tomato slice was also a standout. The base was thin and crispy, and the juicy, fresh tomatoes added a great flavor profile. It was the perfect choice for a lighter option that still satisfied my pizza cravings. While the atmosphere at Steve's Pizza is nothing fancy, the pizza more than makes up for it. The staff were friendly and the service was quick. If you're looking for a classic pizza joint that serves up tasty, no-nonsense pizza, Steve's Pizza is definitely worth a visit. Date: 5/18/2020 Location: Bridgewater, NJ Pizza ordered: Plain & Upside Down Website: www.toscanaspizzanj.com/ Note: I unfortunately lost my photos from my visit. Sorry!
Toscana's does a good job with their pizza. I decided to try a slice of plain and a slice of their upside-down pizza. The plain had a nice, thin, crispy crust. It also had pretty decent cheese and sauce. The upside-down slice featured a delicious sauce with plenty of spices on top. The cheese was great and the crust was the same great, thin, crispy crust that the plain slice had. Overall, the pizza was pretty good! Date: 10/07/2021 Location: Bound Brook, NJ Pizza ordered: Square & Tortellini Website: panatierispizza.com/boundbrook/ I'll preface this by saying that I've been to several other Panatieri's establishments. I'm always impressed by the quality of the pizza and Panatieri's of Bound Brook is no different! When you enter the pizzeria, you're greeted by a massive selection of slices with various toppings. I decided to go with a square slice (not sure if this was the Brooklyn, Grandma, or a different one) and a tortellini slice. The square had a pleasant, fluffy base with a spicy, flavor-packed sauce, and a deliciously fresh cheese. The tortellini slice was excellent and very filling. It had great structure and foldability. Cheesy deliciousness would be the best explanation for that slice. If you've never tried slices from Panatieri's, you're missing out.
Wouldn't you know? Two of my favorite foods combined in one restaurant. Tacos Pizza is a hole-in-the-wall spot in downtown Bound Brook. Streetside parking is required, though they have plenty of room for sitting down and eating in. This time I tried the pizza -next time will be the tacos. The pizza is decent. It has a crisp base and a crunchy, toasted crust. The sauce and cheese are alright, though the slice was slightly gummy/doughy. It certainly wasn't bad though.
Date: 4/7/2021 Location: Manville, NJ Pizza ordered: Margherita Square & Tortellini Website: www.frankspizzaitalianmenu.com/ Frank's Pizzeria is under new management according to the Facebook ads I've been seeing. I decided to revisit for lunch. Parking is plentiful because of their location. They do allow indoor dining, but are limiting capacity and have spaced tables out to reduce crowding. They have a great selection of slices available at the front counter.
I decided to go with the Margherita square and the tortellini slice. The Margherita square featured a deliciously sweet tomato sauce, excellent mozzarella cheese, and a thin, crispy base. The tortellini slice was on the greasy side, but the creamy, delicious cheese and crisp, bready crust rocked! Overall, I like the pizza and I think you will too. Date: 12/22/2020 Location: Martinsville, NJ Pizza ordered: Brooklyn & Tortellini Website: panatierispizza.com/martinsville/ Panatieri's is a small, NJ-specific chain that consistently puts out good pizza. I've been to a few locations and all have had great pizza. This time around, I went with the Brooklyn and the tortellini slices. The Brooklyn had a crisp base, but a fluffy interior like a delicious dinner roll. The cheese was fresh and buttery. The sauce was sweet and delicious. The tortellini slice also had a crisp, thin base and a thinner, crispier crust. The crust was a bit dry, but the slice was cheesy and delicious. The tortellini slice was also very filling.
Overall, Panatieri's has good pizza. Date: 12/22/2020 Location: Martinsville, NJ Pizza ordered: plain and peppers & onions Website: www.mypizzabrothers.com/ I've been to several Pizza Brothers locations in my hunt for good pizza and have never been disappointed. This spot has the same cripsy, thin base that cracks when you fold it but still maintains a good structure. The sauce and cheese are excellent and the crust is bready and delicious. The peppers and onions were clearly fresh and tasted great. I would definitely recommend Pizza Brothers.
