Date: 11/27/2020 Location: Angry Erik Brewing Company, Newton NJ (pop-up) Pizza Ordered: Margherita, Pretty Fly for a White Pie, Vegan Margherita Website: www.asliceofnewjersey.com/ A Slice of New Jersey is the incredible food truck operated by pizza aficionado Chris Hill. Harnessing the power of Ooni ovens, Chris is able to create incredible Neapolitan-style pizzas that are out of this world. I finally had the chance to experience his pizza first-hand back in November 2020. The standard margherita pizza is to-die-for. The crust is fluffy, airy, chewy, and has a nice charring from the oven. The delicious sauce and flavorful, melty mozzarella rocked my world. I also loved the fresh picked basil. The white pie combined a blend of incredible cheeses to create the ultimate cheese experience. The creaminess of the cheese combined perfectly with the fluffy dough and base for a great overall experience. Chris was also kind enough to create a vegan pizza for my wife using some Miyoko's Creamery vegan Mozz. The vegan cheese was a great replacement and melted slightly, but still maintained a glob form, much like the milk mozzarella on the Margherita pizza. I cannot recommend A Slice of Jersey Enough. It's a bit of a drive for me, but I am definitely going to visit more of the pop-ups in the future because I love the pizza!!

Date: 6/18/2020 Location: Branchville, NJ Pizza ordered: plain Website: www.jimmyspizzapastabranchville.com/ I stopped into Jimmy's on the way to Bethel, NY. Despite the hole-in-the-wall exterior, Jimmy's has a familiar, old-school interior. The staff was friendly and the service was very quick. I went with two plain slices and they were fantastic! The slices had an excellent sauce and a great fluffy crust. The cheese was deliciously salty and buttery and the base was perfectly crisp. I'm definitely a fan and will happily return!
Date: 01/04/2017 Location: Sparta, NJ Pizza Ordered: Plain and Chicken Francaise Website: http://www.spartapizzabistro.com/ Pizza Bistro in Sparta serves a decent specialty slice. There is a small parking lot on the side of this pizzeria that is shared with one or two other businesses. There is seating inside and it can be a little tight at times, but there is also a tremendous selection of specialty slices available to the consumer. Personally, it was hard to decide what to try with so many good looking slices, but I ended up going with the Chicken Francaise slice as my wildcard. The plain slice was pretty run of the mill. Good enough cheese and sauce with a nice crispy bottom and a relatively thin and crispy crust. The Chicken Francaise slice was tremendous. The chicken was flavorful and the cheese/sauce that was included in addition the mozzarella cheese was such a great pair to the rest of the slice. If I lived in Sparta, I would quickly become a regular and cycle through the different specialty slices until I found the holy grail.
