Date: 8/7/2020 Location: Westfield, NJ Slices ordered: Plain, Scilian, Grandma Website: www.difarinapizzeria.com/ Di Farina Pizza is located along the bustling East Broadstreet. Its location is perfect to serve people that get hungry while shopping in Downtown Westfield. The staff was friendly and service was quick.
The pizza could use a bit of work. The Sicilian had a great, soft, fluffy base with a crisp crust. The cheese was decent, but the slice could benefit from more sauce (or perhaps a thicker sauce). The plain was greasy with a soft base and bland sauce. The cheese was meh. The saving grace was the crust which is quite good with a fluffy interior and crisp exterior. The grandma slice was the best of the bunch. It featured an excellent sauce with fresh garlic and a crisp base with a crunchy crust. If the slice had more of the excellent sauce, it would have been even better.

Date: 4/2/2020 Location: Elizabeth, NJ Pizza experienced: Sicilian & 1964 Website: https://santillopizza.com Santillo's is a popular pilgrimage for pizza lovers and for good reason. For decades, Santillo's has consistently put out amazing pizza. Their menu includes notable pizza styles from the eras and I hope to one day enjoy each of the varieties. Their most popular pizza is the 1964 or the Sicilian. Both are fantastic picks. First, you must know that Santillo's bakes their pizzas well. The cheese gets that beautiful golden brown scoring and the crust is crispy and crunchy. That being said, they have a rich, flavorful sauce that you can't get enough of. I really enjoyed the 1964 for the perfectly crispy crust and base, the delicious aforementioned sauce, and the amazing spices and herbs that packed a flavorful punch in every bite. I'm especially grateful for the many friends and experts that have recommended Santillo's to me over the years. Shoutout to Ms. V for treating me to my first Santillo's experience. That Sicilian was everything I could have hoped for. Overall, Santillo's is a piece of pizza history that needs to be experienced by any pizza-aficionado.
Date: 4/1/2020 Location: Scotch Plains, NJ Pizza ordered: Regina & Marinara Website: https://www.massarsp.com/ I was blown away by how good this pizza is. As a pizza aficionado, I've been interested in finding a good spot for Roman pizza and THIS IS IT!! I ordered half Regina (like Margherita) and half marinara. The marinara has an airy, fluffy base with a perfectly crisp bottom. The sauce is tremendous and the fresh garlic adds great flavor. This is proof that pizza doesn't need cheese to be exceptional. The Regina is a flavor goldmine from the milky, gooey mozzarella to the deliciously fresh tomatoes. I enjoyed every bite.
Date: 4/1/2020 Location: Scotch Plains, NJ Slices ordered: Margherita & Brooklyn Website: www.alfonsospizzeriasp.com/ Alfonso's Pizzeria is located along the busy Park Avenue. There is street parking and a municipal lot very close by. The inside of the restaurant is clean and well-kept. The staff was friendly and inviting. I decided to go with a Margherita and a Brooklyn square. The square featured good cheese with a delicious sauce and a nice, fluffy base. The Margarita had a slightly thicker base that is crisp on the bottom, but fluffy throughout. It also had a great sauce and good quality mozzarella cheese. The crust was crispy-crunchy. Good pizza, I was very satisfied.
Date: 7/31/2019 Location: Westfield, NJ Pizza ordered: plain pie Website: www.thebrickovenwestfield.com/ The Brick Oven is a small, intimate restaurant with a warm and cozy interior. The lighting sets the mood and the restaurant has an interesting multi-level dining area with one section being raised up. I really admire the unique layout.
Complimentary bread came with the meal. It's perfectly fluffy and light so it won't fill you up too quickly before the main course. The pizza is phenomenal. The crust is perfectly thin. The sauce is light and sweet with good ratios to the fresh, greasy cheese. I really enjoyed the pizza. The staff was also quite friendly and attentive. I definitely recommend enjoying a pleasant dinner at this spot. Date: 7/31/2019 Location: Westfield, NJ Pizza ordered: Original wood fired tomato pie Phone: (908) 654-0400 Fiamma is a small, intimate pizzeria hidden in the bustling streets of Westfield, NJ. The atmosphere is warm, busy, a bit loud, but still romantic. Their wood-fired oven was made in Italy and it's one of the authentic types that you expect a good pizza to come from. I decided to go with the original wood-fired tomato pie and I wasn't disappointed. There's a great char on the crust and a delicious, rich tomato sauce. The fresh, milky cheese tops this excellently crafted pie. The pie has a pleasant, fluffy interior but a crisp, crunchy crust. The fresh basil slices on top of the pie seal the deal and bring the flavors home. It was a great pizza and I definitely recommend this spot.
