There is a combination of outdoor and indoor seating. The paintings that adorn the wall depict a pleasant countryside and add a nice atmosphere to the restaurant.
The pizza is pleasantly thin with a crispy crust and base. The sauce tastes great and the cheese is greasy with a smidgin of salt. Overall the pizza is quite good and the staff was very polite and attentive.

Date: 6/21/2019 Location: Phillipsburg, NJ Pizza Ordered: Plain, White, and Sicilian Website: https://italysrestaurant.com/#home Italy's is a small local pizza joint that has the appearance of your typical neighborhood pizzeria. Lovely paintings of Italy adorn the walls and the atmosphere is warm and inviting.
I was extra hungry, so I went with my usual plain slice and added a white slice and a Sicilian slice. The meal came with complimentary bread that was pleasantly fluffy and had a good mix of herbs and spices on it. The plain had pretty decent sauce and cheese and the charred crust was good, but a bit burnt in some places. The white was very fluffy with a good helping of cheese. The square slice had really great sauce and parmesan and a nice amount of fluff to the base. Overall, I would say Italy's puts out a good average slice of pizza. Date: 4/15/2018 Location: Hackettstown, NJ Pizza ordered: Plain and 4 Seasons Website: www.mamascafebaci.com/ Mama's Cafe Baci is a definite win. Not only is the menu expansive with so many options, they offer a huge variety of vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free dishes. The selection alone is amazing, but the quality of the cocktails and pizza is nothing short of fantastic.
I started off with the 201st Fifth cocktail which had a deliciously fruity cranberry flavor. In addition to trying the plain pie, I also went with the four seasons pizza. The plain pie was solidly constructed. The bottom was toasted to perfection and the crust had a fluffy interior with a crisp, crunchy exterior. The four seasons pizza was a fantastic way to experience different topping combinations. The chicken tomato portion was delicious and flavorful, the Primavera had a rich flavor profile with good spinach, the ham and sausage had just the right amount of spice and the white was full of cheesy goodness. I even managed to snack a bite of my girlfriend's vegan penne vodka slice. The cheese was gooey but delicious. The vodka sauce flavor was lighter than I'm used to, but the pizza is hardly distinguishable from the non-vegan variety. I'm very impressed. I look forward to stopping by again for more delicious food. Date: 5/31/18 Location: West Phillipsburg, NJ Slices ordered: Plain and Penne Vodka Website: bellamiapizzanj.com/ Bella Mia is a small pizzeria tucked away in the busy Shoprite/Home Depot shopping center. There is ample parking that is shared with the nearby shops and Bourbon Street Liquor Store. There are a few folding chairs and a small table set up outside as a make-shift outdoor eating area. The inside is slightly more spacious than it appears. The counter had a great selection of specialty slices and the staff was friendly.
I decided to go with a plain slice and a penne vodka slice. Both slices had a good, fluffy crust with a thin, crispy base. The plain was a bit greasy, but a good, reliable slice. The pasta slice was filling with a great vodka sauce and a good ratio of cheese to sauce. This spot is a good go-to in my opinion. Date: 2/6/2018 Location: Philipsburg, NJ Pizza ordered: Plain Phone: (908) 859-0759 Nicolosi's pizza seems to be a local favorite. There's a pleasant atmosphere with some impressive baseball memorabilia adorning the walls.
I went with a standard plain slice, as there wasn't much selection at the time I decided to stop by. The slice was greasy but had a good cheese to sauce ratio, both of which were tasty. The base and crust were the right amounts of crispy. And while I prefer my slices come unseasoned so that I may add them myself if necessary, the slice came with a good ratio of spices that weren't too overpowering. Date: 10/27/2017 Location: Washington, NJ Slices: Plain and Chicken Bacon Ranch Website: www.leospizzeria.com/ Leo's Pizza was only a quick stop for me, but I still had plenty of time to get a feel for the restaurant. There is ample space in the parking lot and the interior is cozy, clean, and well decorated. There is plenty of seating, so whether you are in a large party or by yourself, I wouldn't expect a long wait. I also was impressed by the large selection of slices available at the counter. I appreciate the opportunity to pick and choose out of what looks good.
The pizza itself is pretty average. It doesn't stand out as the best I've had, but certainly isn't bad in any respect. It is a bit on the greasy side, but the cheese and sauce are good and the crust is standard. The chicken bacon ranch slice was my specialty pick for this day and it was filling. It would have benefitted from a tad more ranch dressing and chicken, but otherwise it was satisfying. |
